Philanthropist Becky Catino works tirelessly to advance economic opportunities for individuals in marginalized communities, and has been named a “Woman of the Year” by Ursuline Academy in Cincinnati. Becky Catino serves as co-CEO and co-founder of GigSmart, a technology firm that connects workers and employers in the gig economy.

Recently, GigSmart presented on the gig economy at Vistage events in Indianapolis, Chicago, Columbus, and Cincinnati. A peer to peer organization, Vistage membership includes over 22,000 executives of small to medium sized businesses from across the globe. In addition to discussing the changing labor force, GigSmart executives encouraged Vistage members to embrace an agile workforce model.

According to the Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion (ENEI), an agile workforce consists of autonomous workers who choose when and where to work. This model provides a range of benefits to both employers and workers. For example, workers enjoy an improved work-life balance and an increase in job satisfaction. Moreover, agile workers are more productive, since they can choose how to best apply their skills.

Alternatively, an agile workforce allows employers to reduce costs and increase efficiency. An agile workforce often reduces or eliminates the need for traditional office space and equipment, and allows employers to expand hiring searches outside the immediate region. In addition, employers stand to attract high quality workers who often prioritize flexibility.
